Whether you experiencing the “great resignation“, the “great awkward“, or the “great breakup” the workplace is definitely being shaken up. The norms, the power dynamics, even in our communications, are all shifting. And to many, it’s unsettling.

As a manager, what can you do to meet the challenge?

  1. Listen. Ask people how they are doing. And just as importantly, ask them how you can help them.  

2. Invite team members on a walk with you (if virtual, with an open zoom bridge) for you to take in the fresh air together—without a work agenda!

3. Send your team small, personalized items to let them know you are thinking about them.

4. De-bias your performance systems to focus on results and collaboration over facetime and individual success.

5. Lean into the challenge of re-imagining the workplace of the future.
